Welcome to

“Nanostructured Hybrid Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage”

Summer School Website

The “Nanostructured Hybrid Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage” Summer School aims to stimulate young scientists to the research in the field of nanostructured hybrid organic-inorganic materials useful for the development of innovative systems and devices for energy conversion and storage, by improving scientific knowledge and developing skills.
The School, organised in the frame of "Ordered inorganic-organic hybrids using ionic liquids for emerging applications (ORION)" EU research Project funded from the 7FP, offers students, researchers and scientists a unique opportunity to networking and connecting with some of the European experts in the field of hybrid nanostructured materials.
The Summer school will be held on 5-10 June 2011 near Ostuni in Apulia Region (Italy). Such a location, in the sunny South of Italy, with its outstanding nature and architecture, will provide a beautiful and scenic frame to a valuable and diverse scientific programme.

AIM OF THE SCHOOL

The main topics:

- Functional materials for energy conversion and storage:

* Synthesis of nanoparticles, nanowires and nanostructured arrays

* Synthesis of lamellar structures and nanoporous inorganic /organic materials

* Ionic liquids: role in photovoltaics and batteries

* Organic and inorganic sensitizers

- Modeling and simulation of materials for photovoltaic and optoelectronic device

- Advanced structural, electrochemical and spectroscopic characterization methods

- Functionality evaluation towards photovoltaic devices and batteries

Speakers with international reputation and well renown expertise in the field will provide a wide and complete spectrum of knowledge, at the cutting edge of research in nanostructured hybrid materials for energy conversion and storage. We believe that the “Nanostructured Hybrid Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage” Summer School can be very attractive for PhD students, post-docs and young researchers who are interested in updating and broadening their scientific background.

The “Nanostructured Hybrid Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage” Summer School is open to all PhD students, post-docs and young researchers interested in research on nanostructured hybrid materials or related subjects. The working language of the school is English and the partecipants are invited to present, in a poster session, their current work in the field.

We look forward to welcoming you in Ostuni, hoping you will enjoy the friendly atmosphere for stimulating scientific discussion, as well as for a relaxing and sightseeing in Ostuni surrounding.
